He then appeared in so many plays at the “Royal National Theatre,” including “The History Boys” from 2005 to 2006 and “Burn/Chatroom/Citizenship,” a play for teenagers, in 2006.

While working on stage, he ventured into television, as Jim Taylor in the TV film version of “The Ruby in the Smoke,” the first book in the Sally Lockhart quartet by Philip Pullman. The BBC-produced movie was broadcast on “BBC One” on December 27, 2006.

He was cast as Danny Foster in the British drama series “Party Animals,” which aired on “BBC Two” from January 31, 2007, to March 21, 2007, and received his first substantial television role. He also appeared in the television show “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” and “The Street.” that year.

His most outstanding on-stage performance was probably when he played Henry, an aspiring artist, in English writer Polly Stenham’s two-act drama “That Face.” Under the direction of Jeremy Herrin, the play had its world debut on April 26, 2007, at London’s “Royal Court Theatre,” and on May 1, 2008, it was moved to the West End’s Duke of York’s Theatre.
